GoRide is owned and operated by Synexis Technologies ("we", "us"). This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it, in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). By using GoRide you agree to this policy.
When you register we collect your name, date of birth, mobile number, email address, home address, your usual commute pick-up and drop-off locations, and a profile photo. If you offer rides as a driver, we also collect your vehicle make, model, colour, registration and a photo of the vehicle. We do NOT collect or store your ID number or copies of identity documents — your date of birth is used only to confirm you are 18 or older.
We use your information only to operate the service: to verify you are an adult, to create and manage your account, to match riders and drivers on similar routes, and to help matched users recognise and contact each other. Our lawful basis is your consent and the performance of the ride-matching service you signed up for.
When you are matched with another user, they can see your first name, profile photo, rating, and (for drivers) your vehicle and its photo — so you can recognise each other. Your home address and exact commute coordinates are shared only with a confirmed match, and are never shown publicly.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with third parties for marketing. We may share information only where required by law or to comply with a lawful request from the authorities.
Your data is transmitted over secure HTTPS connections and stored on infrastructure that encrypts data at rest. Photos and documents are held in private storage and served only through short-lived, signed links — they cannot be accessed by guessing a public URL. Access is restricted to what is needed to run the service.
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account (see below), your personal information is permanently removed from our systems.
You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, and to have it deleted. You can update your details in the app, and you can permanently delete your account and all associated data from Profile → Delete account. You may also object to certain processing.
Your information may be processed and stored on cloud infrastructure located outside South Africa. Where this happens, we rely on providers that apply appropriate safeguards and a level of protection consistent with POPIA.
GoRide is only for people aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of GoRide after a change means you accept the updated policy.
